MakaGiC L7 Firmware Upgrade Guide

We are committed to continuously improving our firmware to ensure your device
performs at its best.
No drivers required: Thanks to Web Serial technology, there is no need to install
complex drivers or third-party software on your computer.
Efficient and Convenient: The update is performed directly via a web browser,
offering a user-friendly and stable experience.

I. Preparations

1. Data Cable: A high-quality USB to Type-C data cable (we recommend using a
high-quality mobile phone cable to ensure stable data transfer) .
2. Computer: A desktop or laptop with stable performance.
3. Browser (Essential): You must use ‘Google Chrome’ to access the update tool.
4. Firmware File: Download the latest firmware package (.bin format) from the
official website and save it to your desktop.

II. Upgrade Guide

PC Side
Important Note: Please ensure you use Google Chrome to open the upgrade link. You
can access the tool in one of the following two ways:
a) Direct Access: Open the link directly at:
https://www.makagic.com/pages/download_l7
b) Via Official Website: Visit https://www.makagic.com/, click on the 'Download'
tab, and select 'MAKAGIC L7' from the menu as shown below.
Step 1: Download
In the left-hand menu, click 'Firmware'.
Find the correct .bin file for your device.
Click 'Download' and wait for the process to complete (refer to the image below).
Wait for the "Download complete" alert to appear in the top-right corner.
Click the download icon in the same area to access your downloaded file.
Tip: Save the file to a familiar location (such as the Desktop) rather than a temporary
folder. This ensures you can quickly locate the .bin file during the upgrade process.
Once you have saved the (.bin) file, return to the previous ‘Download’ screen and
click ‘Open Web App’ to open the web version of the upgrade assistant.
Hardware Connection
Step 2: Connect
With the device securely connected to your computer, click the 'Connect' button to
select and open the corresponding serial port.
Web Tool
Select the 'USB Serial' port from the list. If it does not appear, disconnect and
reconnect the L7.
Click 'Connect'. Once established, a green indicator will light up, and the status will
change to 'Port Open' or 'Connected'.
If the connection fails, please refresh the page and repeat the steps.
Step 3: Upload
Once the connection is established, click ‘Choose File’ to locate the (.bin) file you
saved earlier, select it, and click ‘Open’.
Please ensure that the interface matches the image below to confirm that the
connection has been established successfully. If the fields are displayed incorrectly,
please disconnect and repeat the connection steps.
After verifying all settings, click 'Start'. When the warning dialog appears, click
'Confirm' to begin.
Important: Once the upgrade starts, please wait patiently. Do not disconnect the cable,
close the browser, or operate your mouse and keyboard until the process is fully
complete. Any interruption may cause the upgrade to fail.
Step 4: Success
During the process, an upgrade icon will appear on the L7 screen.
Once the progress bar reaches 100% and the message "Upgrade Success" is displayed,
the process is complete.
Disconnect the USB cable, then press and hold the Menu button to power on the
device and experience the new firmware.
Important Note: Troubleshooting Interrupted Updates
If the connection is interrupted—due to device movement or system
interference—and the upgrade fails, please follow these steps:
Reset the Device: Press and hold the Menu button for at least 5 seconds.
Reconnect: Unplug and re-insert the USB-C cable.
Refresh: Refresh the browser page and restart the upgrade process from the
beginning.
